MAN NEEDS THE BIBLE

INTRODUCTION0: Greetings friends. What do you know about the Bible? This may seem like a strange question because we live in a land of Bibles.
People who read the Bible founded this government. On our coins we find “In God We Trust,” yet what do you know about God and the Bible?
Someone says: “I know that Grandma had a big Bible. She used to read it all the time. When she died, mother got it. She has a lot of newspaper clippings in it, and several flowers are pressed in it, but we never read it. It has some beautiful pictures in it; we look at them occasionally.”
Another may say, “I know some of the stories about Bible men, like Moses, Noah, and Abraham. I had these lessons when I was a child when Mother sent me to Sunday school.” Still another may say, “We have a fine Preacher, Priest, or Rabbi, and I listen to him talk about the Bible, but most people can’t understand it.”
Friends, the purpose of this program is to cause you to read the Bible, study it, and learn what it says. In this program we hope to tear away the shroud of mystery that has been placed over the Bible by men. We hope to lay it bare before your eyes. I do not claim any special gift of divine power. We should approach the Bible as we do letters, books, or other messages. The Bible is a book of information; we should approach it with common sense and a desire for truth.
